Cirdan and I arrived to the Mexican restaurant and sat down with my parents. We didn't even have a chance to eat a chip when the babysitter called to say that Cannon threw up again. I was bummed but also scared about why Cannon was throwing up! I called the doctor on call and they told me it would be best to take him to the ER to make sure he was okay. Cirdan and I went home, got Cannon and left Ella and Jett with the babysitter. We made our way to the ER.
When we got there as soon as we walked in I realized it would be a long night. There were a ton of people!! The times I had been there before there was maybe 1 or 2 other people waiting in the main area. Last Friday there was too many to count! We finally were seen by the triage nurse. She took Cannon's vitals and told us to go sit out in the main area (there were 2 areas…a main where not 'emergency' people were and the other area where 'emergency' people were waiting) and wait to be called. Right as she was telling us that another nurse came in and stopped her. He told her to have us just go sit in the area with the emergency people. Since all we needed was a CAT scan he would try to get us in fast. What a relief!!! Cirdan and I both remembered the nurse guy from when we took Jett in when he was a tiny baby. After waiting about an hour they finally called us back to have him get a CAT scan. Cannon was freaking out and didn't want to lay on his back. They strapped him in (which broke my heart) and I left the room so that Cirdan could help him. Cirdan has a much more calming presence and I knew my anxiety wasn't going to help him. I sat outside the doors and soon they came out and said they were done.
The doctor came and found us and told us everything looked normal. PERFECT!!! I was finally able to relax a little. He then said that he could admit us to the hospital to keep an eye on him or we could watch him at home. Ummm duh! I wanted to go home!! Also, from the beginning I wasn't sure if this was the stomach bug going around again or if it was from falling. The doctor also wanted him to get an Xray to check his neck. The doctor was also great and as we stood there he told us to follow him and he called over the Xray tech so we could do it then. This like the scan was horrible. It took Cirdan, I and the tech to hold him down for someone to get the X-ray. Poor Cannon. We went back out and sat and waited. Cirdan walked Cannon around because he wanted his bottle but I didn't want to give it to him just yet in fear he would throw it all up….and the room we were waiting in was packed with people! Finally the doctor came and found us and said everything once again came back normal. Just to keep an eye on him and if any more throwing up bring him back. Oh, I forgot to mention the nurse also gave Cannon an anti nauseated pill to stop him from throwing up.
The whole time we were there we weren't ever admitted into a room. We just kept getting called to one place and then back to the waiting area…then another place…then the waiting room etc.
We got home and went to bed. We were exhausted!! Also, I hate hospitals but to be there again after the last time we were there was for Jett when he was 3 weeks old and them doing test after test on him to figure out why he was vomiting was really taking me back to a place I didn't want to go.
FAST FORWARD TO SUNDAY
Cirdan went to the Seahawks game. I was home with the kids and I started feeling really nasty. I didn't have an appetite and nothing sounded good to eat. My stomach started making gurgling noises and I text Cirdan and said….if I make it thru this day without throwing up it will be a miracle. A few hours later it hit. Like a ton of bricks. I threw up. I text my mom and she offered to come over to help with the kids until Cirdan came home. I didn't want her to get sick but I took her up on the offer. Kaiya was helping with them as I went up to bed until she got there. My mom ended up taking Ella with her to spend the night. I got a text from my mom a couple hours later saying Ella had thrown up. GREAT!!! Not. I asked her if she wanted Cirdan to come pick her but she said she was asleep. That night was horrible. I was in the bathroom every hour or 2 until around 9 the next morning. I ended up sleeping on the couch downstairs so I didn't disturb anyone. Around 1 o'clock I heard Cannon throw up. EEK! I dragged myself upstairs…realized I wasn't much help and drug myself back downstairs. A little while later I heard Jett throw up and the shower going. Poor Cirdan was up and down with the boys all night.
Ella and I were down on the couch all of Monday. The boys woke up being their crazy selfs. Monday Ava went to spend time with her Grandma. That night she threw up. WAHHHHHH!! Last night (New Years Eve) Cirdan went to bed fine. A few hours later he woke up and threw up!! Double WAHHHHHH!! Today is Wednesday (New Years Day). The boys are ok. This is the first time my stomach has been feeling okay and my energy is slowing returning. Kaiya is fine and has been since she threw up 2 weeks ago. I am hoping this is what she had the week before Christmas and she isn't next on the list of sickies. Ava and Ella have been on the couch pretty much constantly. Ava is finally starting to try to eat and Ella has been eating here and there.
This has been exhausting and I am so done with my family being sick!! We had plans during this break like we did during Thanksgiving and unfortunately have spent the majority on the couch sick! School starts on Monday and I am bummed that we couldn't go do more things. I am grateful however that we ARE all together spending time at home…even though it is on the couch we are still together. Hoping all this sickness will be out of the house and we can have an enjoyable 2014! :)
