Kaiya's dance national competition took place the week that I was due. I knew that we couldn't go so I asked her dad to take her. He was happy to. The National completion took place in Seaside, Oregon. Not having to take a plane made it a lot cheaper than Disneyland last year. I was sad that I wasn't there with her but I was receiving messages all week about how everyone was doing. Here are some pictures from the week that other people took.
The girls getting ready to perform Rain
Awards - looks like this award was from Mr. Postman
Rain received 1st place
This is Kaiya as part of the 'elite' team. She is in the back in the blue. It was a lot of practice and took a lot of time out of the week. If she is able to get invited to do it again, she probably wont. She didn't really enjoy it.
Awards for The Anthem
Mr. Postman performance
The whole group together
Another picture of the elite team. Kaiya is in the blue/2nd to the right corner.
Everyone had a ton of fun. This is a big group of them on the beach. They had bonfires and roasted marshmallows.
The last night there they all went bowling. I guess they had the whole place to themselves.
Everyone had such a great time that they asked to go there next year. I heard that it's between Lake Tahoe and Seaside. Lake Tahoe would be a lot more expensive but a lot warmer!
Here is how her dances ranked.
Sassy - Diamond, Category Winner, Judges Award...Waking Us Up, 2nd Overall
Old School Jam - Ruby
Mr. Postman - Diamond, 4th Overall
Rain - Diamond, 1st Overall
The Anthem - Diamond, Special Awards...Cut Above, Getting Your Grove On, 3rd Overall
Made For You - Ruby, Category Winner
AND FOR HER AWESOME SOLO....
So Proud - Diamond, Category Winner, Judges Award...Entertainment Award, 10th Overall
She did really well!!!! She competed with around 85 other kids and got 10th overall. There was only one other kid in her age group from the dance studio that placed 6th overall. The judges award was also special...it's hard to get those!
Kaiya ended the year with a bang! She is ready and excited to learn her next years dances!
