California!! One of my favorite places to go. After Cirdan went to the Superbowl he owed me a vacation. I decided we would go to have some fun like we did when I turned 30 and go to Cali. I am always so nervous the week before flying and don't actually relax until I get to the place. The airplane ride was super bumpy. I thought we were in trouble so most of the flight I was super nervous and on the edge....but we finally got there....safe!
After looking for hotels for a few days we decided to take a risk and buy the 3 1/2 star hotel that they tell you what it's going to be after you purchase. We really lucked out and got the hotel that we wanted...Sheraton at Universal.
When we pulled up it was amazing! The trees had these lights in them that looked like icicles/rain falling. It made it even more exciting! We got into our room, unpacked a bit and then decided to head over to City Walk and have a bite to eat. We ended up eating at Hard Rock Cafe. It brought back fun memories. That was where we stood in line for hours to see some of the cast from Days of our Lives. It was late it is seemed like we were the oldest/only white people there so we headed back to the hotel.
Hard Rock
On Sunday morning we woke up and decided to head over to Santa Monica. At first there was hardly anyone there. Then about an hour into it the crowd started to show up and there was a ton of people. We finally decided to stop at a little coffee shop and get some breakfast and head down to the pier. It was a nice walk and made me wish we lived there so we could do it way more often.
Outdoor mall
This pink and purple house made me think of Ella and a house she would want
We took some cool pictures of the pier from where we were. It looks like a long walk but it actually was a lot shorter than I had thought.
The first thing we did was take a ferris wheel ride. I am not a ride person at all but I really wanted to do this. It's funny because Cirdan is a ride person but was pretty much nervous/freaking out the whole time. It is his least favorite ride. It was kind of creepy being up that high but I love it and the views were breathtaking.
Then we walked to the end of the pier and took some pictures. The sail boats were so fun to see!
Then we walked down by the sand. They had all these crosses to honor the fallen war heroes.
Cirdan - funny shadow
We then decided to go down to Hollywood and walk around. WOW! I never realized (or I had forgotten) how many freaks there are down there. It felt more like freak fest and I didn't want to stick around too long. I feel like I really don't need to go back there for a long long time.
I took this picture for Kaiya. All she cared about was us bringing her home something Muppets. She made sure to tell us every time we talked to her she wanted Muppets. I told her...."I'm not going to Muppet Land." and she got really excited thinking there really was a Muppet Land.
Where the freaks hang out....
Mad rush of people but I got a pic of Michael Jacksons star (and Cirdan's nice legs ha ha)
We went back to our Hotel, got changed and decided to check out this small but popular Italian restaurant (after our normal, look online for an hour and a half until we are starving, get to the point where Wendy's is in play). The restaurant was great, Cirdan loves a good risotto. I think I had lasagna and Bruchetta. We took two delicious desserts home, an orange and a chocolate cake. The next morning was one I was looking forward to! A tour at the WB studios. Yipee!
