It's Jett!

Holiday Parties

We went to the ward Christmas party for our ward along with my parents ward too. Santa made an appearance at both places!
Kaiya was in the talent with my parents for their ward. We stood in line to meet Santa, ate a sandwich and soup dinner and then watched the talent show.

Our ward had a really nice dinner. They brought out big plate of ham, potatoes, caesar salad and rolls. We were impressed and didn't think it would be as good as it was :) A few people performed musical numbers and then Santa showed up. It was fun meeting people in the ward that we didn't know and visiting with friends.

Hailey and Brett...

Got Milk?

Eagle

We have seen some really cool animals in our yard. The latest: An eagle. I was glad we (and by we I mean Cirdan) were able to get the camera before it flew away. Such an amazing bird.

Grandma Donna

I haven't been looking forward to writing this blog. It still hasn't hit yet that my Grandma isn't on earth with us anymore. I keep reaching for the phone or thinking about things to call and tell her. I miss her so much. I know that she is in a better place though with her husband who she loved and missed so much. She is also with her dad and mom, siblings and most of her friends. I bet she is having the time of her life in Heaven with all her loved ones!
Right before Thanksgiving Grandma went into the hospital. I guess she started getting sick and from what I heard Mick found her one time on the ground and she hadn't remembered how she got there. Her health was going down hill. Whenever she went to the hospital she would always get better and go home. This time was different yet I still didn't believe it.
At first Grandma was at St. Joes in Tacoma. I really wanted to see her one last time. I also wanted her to meet Jett so bad. She was so concerned about him when he was in the hospital and when we were driving home from the hospital with him I called to tell her we were finally going home. That was the last time that I had talked to her. She was in and out but she opened her eyes for a couple seconds to see him. I am glad I got it on video. I am sure she wouldn't have been very happy with me taking pictures of her when her hair wasn't done but I wanted to remember it forever. Sorry Gram!

Kaiya went and visited her the next week when she was moved to a nursing home. Kaiya was really sad about her dying. She cried a few times and wanted to make sure to go see her to say goodbye. I took her out of school early so she could go with my dad. She was so happy she was able to go.

Things I will remember about my Grandma...
The best Macaroni and cheese
The best cinnamon toast
Walking around the neighborhood with her walking stick. She would yell single file and we would all line up behind her when a car was coming.
Mcdonalds toys
Collecting (bells, glass shoes, stamps, coins etc)
Cookie jars
Bells
Loud music
Camping
Hot water bottles
Her tea she drank in her brown cup
Soap Operas (and not calling her between 12-1)
Calling her when I was little asking if I could spend the night
Noodles with butter and salt
Spending the night at her house
Watching movies like Annie
Always sending us home with little presents (whether we wanted it or not)
Each Grandchild with their own plate
Each Grandchild with their own look alike glass doll
Being the center of attention
Phone calls (more listening than talking)
I will do another posting of the funeral...

Pre Christmas fun

Jett Meets Auntie Em

We were going to bless Jett on December 5th but Cirdan decided at the last minute to wait; get the Melchizedek Priesthood so he could give his blessing. We were able to give his parents enough warning before they made the trek over but Emily was already in Seattle. She still came over on Saturday night and met Jett. It was nice seeing her.

Trimming the Tree

This year I really wanted to get a fake tree. I was not in the mood to trample through the mud in the cold to find the perfect tree. Plus putting lights on the tree drives me crazy. Cirdan and I looked around and we could not find a nice fake tree. We decided to try and get one of the nice expensive ones after Christmas (if they go on sale).

Cirdan left to run some errands and came home with a beautiful real tree!! He got it on the side of the road at some little tree sale place and it was probably the nicest looking one we've had and half the price.
We turned on the Christmas music and spent a couple hours decorating the tree as a family.

Random Things...

Jett went to the surgeon today for a post operation appointment. The surgeon said everything looked great and hopefully this will be the only surgery he has to have in his lifetime! (let's hope) They weighed him in 9 lbs.

A few weeks ago the girls, Jett and I went to the park in our neighborhood. When we were walking back we were about 15 feet from the end of our driveway and a deer ran out full speed! Thankfully he turned left out of the drive way and we were coming from the right hand side. Not sure where he thought he was running to since there are only houses that way. Oh oh...poor deer.

Ella will perform in the Christmas performance for Auburn Dance Academy in December. Kaiya will be in 3 different dances. I am pretty nervous about Ella being up onstage so we will see how it goes!! She will have to be behind stage with her class (and a parent volunteer) until intermission then we can go get her. Scary!!

Kaiya was in my parents ward talent show last Friday night. Nate played the piano and trombone, Amy played the piano and sang, my mom rang jingle bells, my dad played the drums, Hugh Faulkner (family friend in the ward) played the guitar and Kaiya danced. It was very cute. I tried to record it on my small camera but it wouldn't focus (darn!). Kaiya made up the dance and did great! They played to Rockin Around the Christmas Tree and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

We were supposed to bless the baby on Sunday but on Saturday (after we had bought the food) Cirdan made the decision to get the Melchizedek Priesthood and bless the baby himself! I am so happy and proud of him. The blessing should happen sometime soon. Yay!!!!

Just because...

Birthday Bliss

I had a nice, fun and relaxing birthday this year. I always enjoy my birthday because it's the one day a year I can boss around my family and get away with it (ha ha). Cirdan started the morning by giving me some beautiful flowers, balloons and a card. He then went and got me a newspaper and some Starbucks. My favorite! The day was spent watching football and enjoying the day with my family. My friend Kristel stopped by with some of her kids to give me a balloon and a Seahawks Christmas ornament. They know we love our Seahawks! My visiting teacher also stopped by with a gift...so thoughtful of her! Our friends Hailey and Brett also came by with a plate of brownies. I have wonderful friends!! We had my family over that evening for pot roast, prime rib, carrots and mashed potato's. YUM!
My dad made my birthday cake (including the icing) and my mom decorated it. The cake was moist and the icing turned out perfect. I was really impressed! Didn't know he was such a good cake maker. The decorating was cute...my mom has cake decorating skills.
Can't believe I am 31!!!

Playing Wii...

Kaiya worked on a birthday present for me for for about an hour. Here is the finished product...

Cirdan got me an awesome birthday present. A TREADMILL!! I used it tonight for the first time and I am pretty sure I am going to be super sore tomorrow but it felt GREAT. I have wanted one for at least 2 years and with a newborn I was getting worried about when I would be able to go to the gym so the treadmill will help! Now to lose this pregnacy weight!
