Rockaway Beach Oregon

We had a nice getaway to Rockaway Beach in Oregon over Memorial Day weekend. Rockaway Beach is close to Cannon Beach on the way to Tillamook. It is a place where my family went growing up. Not sure why my parents picked Rockaway Beach I am glad since the beach seemed to be a lot less crowded than Cannon or Seaside.
Amy found a nice townhouse just steps from the ocean. It was a very nice house and was the perfect size for all of us. We all had a blast!
I tried to put all the pictures on one post but me and my crazy picture taking I had to split it up. I like for the pictures to tell the story of what we did rather than me writing our every move.
It was a long drive. For some reason it felt like it took forever until we got there. We had to stop a bunch of times to use the restroom, eat and even buy an umbrella stroller since we accidently left ours at home.

Oregon - Seaside

On Sunday we decided to go hang out at Seaside. I didn't realize that there was so much to do there. Since it was a holiday weekend there was a lot of people there but it was still fun. Right as we got into town and was looking for parking Ella woke up from her nap and wet her pants. She usually can catch it but since we were in the car and she was half awake she was confused. We had to stop at the near by outlet mall for some new pants. It was an adventure! We then made our way over to the Aquarium. The aquarium was enjoyable but small and stinky.

Ha. It was lunch for the seals who were not interested in the food at all. People kept coming in, buying food, throwing it in there tank and the seals couldn't care less.

The kids had fun looking at the sea life in the aquarium. They got to touch some of the sea creatures too!

We then went over a couple of blocks to where the little shops are. The kids rode the carousel, we shopped and got some food. Cirdan remembers going to the arcade place when he was little so he was excited to take the girls there.

These elephant ears were really REALLY yummy. The amount of cinnamon and sugar was insane which probably made it taste even better.

When we got back to the townhouse we ate dinner and some of us went out to the beach.

Monday morning we got up and ready to head on back to Washington. It was a short trip and went fast but it was still really nice to get away.

On our way home we stopped to check out some of the viewing areas. We also stopped at the Nike outlet store. On the way down to Oregon we went through Astoria so we decided that on the way back we would go through Portland. I had no idea it would take us forever to get home. It took us 10 hours!!!! We had to stop so many times for kids (and Cirdan) to use the restroom or to get something to eat it was crazy. We also had a gift card for a restaurant we wanted to use when we got into Tumwater since it is quite a drive from our house. By the time we got to the restaurant we realized it was closed for Memorial Day. That was a big bummer.

Another thing that I wanted to do was stop by the other outlet mall in Centralia. Even with us stopping there it should not have taken us 10 hours!

Star of the Week

Kaiya waited all year to be the Star of the Week in her class at school. Each week she would come home bummed that she wasn't chosen.
A month before school was out she was finally the Star!! What does the star of the week entail? On Friday their parents get to come have lunch with them at school. After lunch they get to share 10 of their favorite photos with the class. Then they share answers to a questionaire they filled out about themselves. They also get to bring their favorite toy and book to show the class.
Ella, Jett and I had a good time eating lunch with Kaiya. The kid who is star gets to stand on a chair high above everyone while the questionaire is being read. Kaiya loved every minute of it.

Our Life...

Is dance....ALL THE TIME. Recitals are coming up!! June 23rd and 24th! Kaiya is in 2 dances on the 23rd and 2 on the 24th. Ella has her once dance on the 24th. Kaiya is also one of the characters this year...Tinkerbell from Shrek. She also does one of her Xtreme dances on Thursday. Busy Busy girls!!

They had rehearsal last Saturday and this one coming up which means Kaiya starts at 7:00 am and ends at 2:00. Ella has hers from 2:00 to 2:45. That's some serious dancing!!
